Job Description: 

Purpose of the Role

As Project Manager (Contractor’s Representative) you will work for Colas Contracting Limited and report to the Contracts Manager based in either Mallow Co Cork or Kilcolgan Co. Galway. You will be responsible for planning and delivering site operations within your remit to specification, safety standards and client requirements, while ensuring contracts achieve their financial targets. You will act as the Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) where required, prepare construction-stage health and safety plans, and lead day-to-day site activities including resource, plant and material scheduling. Building and maintaining professional customer relationships with clients, Local Authority and TII personnel is a key priority, as is working cross-functionally within Colas (HR, Safety, Environmental, Commercial) to ensure compliant, efficient delivery of works across our national road and sign installation programmes.d a commercial mindset are essential.

Main Responsibilities

The Project Manager (Contractor’s Representative) serve as PSCS, preparing Construction Stage H&S Plans and conducting site and temporary traffic management audits. Ensure site inductions, method statements and Safe Systems of Work are communicated and followed. Manage contractors’ programmes, day‑to‑day operations and resources (plant, labour, materials), including ordering and daily records, to meet programme, financial and KPI targets. Liaise with the Employer’s Representative, Colas departments and external stakeholders (TII, Local Authorities, service providers) to ensure contractual, statutory and company compliance. Promote environmental best practice and foster positive employee relations and teamwork.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience managing sign installation works on high‑speed national roads and delivering contracts, with relevant qualifications/certificates in road signs and Health & Safety and strong knowledge of the Traffic Signs Manual and Dashboard Manual. They will demonstrate proven leadership, organisation and problem‑solving skills, the ability to work on their own initiative and to manage teams, and be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
