Mission
The Power Supply Testing and Commissioning (T&C) Lead Engineer supports the Power T&C Manager in preparing, coordinating, and executing Testing & Commissioning activities across all MMSP power supply systems. He ensures safe, compliant, and efficient testing performed mainly by in‑house teams, while supervising specialized subcontractors for 115kV equipment. The role guarantees system readiness, technical quality, and alignment with project commissioning milestones across all subsystem types, including the Bulk Supply Substation (BSS), Station Substations (SSS), and Traction Substations (TSS).
Systems and Sites Covered
- BSS: 115kV GIS, 115/34.5kV power transformers, 34.5kV switchgear, HV control & protection
- SSS: 34.5kV switchgear, LV distribution, UPS and chargers
- TSS: 34.5kV traction feeders, 1500Vdc rectifiers, LV auxiliaries
- Common: Cables (HV/MV/LV), protection relays, PLC/control & monitoring equipment
Main Responsibilities
Includes but not limited to:
- Prepare T&C procedures, method statements, schedules, and ensure site readiness with engineering and installation teams.
- Ensure all tools, test equipment, and resources required for testing are available, calibrated, and compliant.
- Lead the in‑house T&C teams for all tests, functional checks, and energization activities across BSS, SSS, and TSS.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors performing 115kV GIS and transformer testing, ensuring safety and technical compliance.
- Monitor the safe and correct execution of all T&C activities, and support troubleshooting in coordination with engineering.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, installation teams, and other system T&C groups to maintain alignment of activities.
- Report progress, risks, and issues to the Power T&C Manager and participate in coordination and technical meetings.
- Prepare T&C reports, checklists, redlines, and ensure proper documentation for commissioning and handover.
- Support punch‑list management and closure activities.
- Train and support T&C supervisors and engineers, enforce safety rules, and promote a zero‑incident safety culture across all sites.
Profile
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field.
- 10–15 years of experience in electrical Testing & Commissioning.
- Strong background with 115kV & 34.5kV AC systems and 1500Vdc traction systems.
- Experience with GIS, power transformers, MV/LV switchgear, protection relays, and control systems.
- Experience supervising subcontractors for HV testing is preferred.
