As part of the Group bitumen strategy, Continental Bitumen Limited handle the mission of sourcing and supplying bitumen to Colas facilities in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In addition to bitumen supply chain management, Continental Bitumen is also responsible for developing and coordinating a downstream transportation & storage strategy as well as developing retail sales and wholesale of bitumen in the countries where Colas is present.

 

This operational role is meant to support the Bitumen commercial team across their activities in Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Optimise vessel planning and co-ordinate the cargo operations cycle from trade inception to post deal conclusion. This includes (but is not limited to):

 

  • Liaising on KYS and KYC completion.
  • Receipt / Issuance and review of contracts and amendments in keeping with deal recaps to ensure compliant execution of operations.
  • Ensuring financial securities and credit checks are in place prior to load or discharge obligations.
  • Coordination with Trading, shipping operations and counterparties towards vessel planning.
  • Logistics management (vessel clearances, nominations, voyage orders, laycan narrowing, agent appointments, vessel tracking, dead freight, demurrage, monitoring of deviations, port charges , issuing LOI ...
  • Synchronization of document and customs related requirements between suppliers and receivers.
  • Monitoring and handling of quality and/or quantity claims by following up with relevant insurers and counterparties.
  • Appointment of approved inspectors for sampling, blending and analysis towards quality and quantity requirements.
  • Monitoring the voyage P&L. Consistently tracking and estimating all operational incurred or potential costs and flagging avoidable incidents.
  • Awareness of and assistance / compliance with HSEQ, REACH, Tax rules, carbon emissions and any other trade regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Checking and approving operational related invoices
  • Maintaining data integrity by accurately filing relevant spreadsheets and software systems.
  • Handling ad-hoc projects related to the department needs.

 

PROFIL

 

Knowledge

  • English language: Fluent
  • French : working knowledge
  • International Trade
  • Trading or Shipping operations
  • International Documentation, Tax & Customs
  • Marine issues pertaining to the movement of Crude and/or Oil Products
  • Understanding of industry standards & their commercial/financial impact (market trends/drivers, competitors, terminals, logistics and refinery operations in area of responsibility)

 

Skills

  • Strong organizational, analytical & data management skills (attention to detail, accurate completion of tasks, maintain data/files/reports and discern discrepancies)
  • Ability to establish and maintain good professional relationships with internal and external counterparties to empower effective collaboration

  • Able to stay positive and calm under pressure when handling complex and challenging operational issues

Qualifications

  • Degree in Shipping/ Commerce/ Logistics and /or qualified by relevant work experience

 

Experience

  • Significative (minimum 8 years) work experience in trading or shipping operations for Crude and/or Oil Products
