With over 20 years of experience serving the Barrie and Simcoe region, Georgian Paving is a leading paving contractor, specializing in municipal, industrial, and commercial projects. Georgian Paving is a subsidiary of The Miller Group and a member of the Colas Canada family.
Responsibilities
- Production/plant supervision
- Advise plant crew of next day’s production and/or maintenance schedule
- Monitor plant start‑up (dryer, cold feed, etc.)
- Plan and manage start-ups and shut-downs to optimize costs
- Monitor plant rate of production
- Operate plant (mix asphalt through best practices)
- Verify material on hand to produce mixes schedule; order, receive and record material
- Manage on-hand material quantities to minimize costs
- Send daily production report to manager
- Communicate and coordinate with Quality Control to fully understand mix requirements
- Communicate and coordinate with customers to clarify actual mix needs
- Monitor and document mix quality/stack emissions and bag log book
- Carry out preventive maintenance inspection schedule
- Repair mechanical issues and troubleshoot plant issues
- Maintain adequate spare parts inventory and appropriate tool inventory to perform timely
- Repairs: order parts/materials as required, pick‑up parts/materials as required, compare prices
- Verify crew is on site on time to start production
- Document incidents, injury’s and near misses
- Insure all employees are supervised, informed and provided with proper safety equipment (PPE)
- Conduct daily and weekly safety tool box meetings
- Daily EPA records and bag house records are completed
- MSDS reports and system is in place and working
- Confined space entry requirements
- Safety records are completed for Managers review
- Maintain good housekeeping
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience producing Asphalt
- OSSD High school graduate or equivalency;
- Must have a valid minimum class G driver's licence with driver’s abstract meeting Miller’s expectations
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and evening shifts as the schedule demands
- Excellent organizational and people skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
- Appreciation for a high level of quality standards is required
- Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary

Targeting $42-47/hr
