Sami Bitumen Technologies was formed in 1978 to meet a market need for new bitumen technology and remains an industry leader in research and development. SAMI is part of COLAS Australia, a leader in the Road Construction and Maintenance Industry, supported locally by over 700 employees, across 15 work sites in 5 states.
The Role
- Lead and promote a strong safety, quality and environmental culture across the business.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve WHSEQR systems, policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, contractual and company requirements.
- Maintain and enhance the Integrated Business Management System (IBMS).
- Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead incident investigations and oversee corrective and preventative actions.
- Monitor and report on WHSEQR performance, trends and key metrics.
- Provide expert WHSEQR advice and support to managers and employees.
- Deliver WHSEQR training, coaching and awareness programs.
- Maintain ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certifications.
- Manage WHSEQR documentation, records and reporting systems, including Donesafe.
- Build strong relationships with employees, contractors, clients and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Support business objectives by driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Diploma level qualifications in WHS.
- Investigators Qualification.
- Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment.
- 5 years proven experience in a senior HSE, HSEQ or HSEQR management position.
- Strong knowledge of Australian workplace health and safety, environmental and quality legislation.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining integrated management systems and ISO certifications.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Strong leadership, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and reporting capabilities.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and culture development.
