Job Summary
Strawser Construction Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers’ needs. The Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs to fleet vehicles and heavy construction equipment including asphalt distributors, pavers, tankers, some proprietary equipment, and other types of heavy construction equipment and vehicles.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform service on vehicles and equipment such as preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Perform mild to heavy repair of vehicles and equipment by troubleshooting malfunctions and determining repairs needed.
- Complete maintenance and repair logs.
- Maintain and secure work tools.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
- Report to field to perform mechanic duties, as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Heavy construction equipment and repair experience preferred
- Diesel and heavy truck repair experience preferred
- Experience with hydraulics and electrical troubleshooting preferred
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Must have a valid Drivers’ License with clean driving record
- Knowledge of air brake systems
- Possess own Mechanic’s tools
- Capable of lifting up to 65 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders, walk long distances, and push/pull
- Willingness to work weekends and long hours during peak season
